Good morning, Mets fans!

After a rain delay that lasted over two hours, the fifth game of the ALDS between the Guardians and Yankees was postponed. The winner-take-all game will be played this afternoon at 4:07. Nestor Cortes will take the hill for the Yankees, while the Guardians have yet to announce a starter. The winner will face the Astros in the ALCS starting Wednesday.

Pete Alonso has been nominated for the Hank Aaron Award, which is given to the best offensive player in each league. Alonso slugged 40 homers and led the NL with 131 RBIs this season.

The NLCS is set to begin today at Petco Park between the Padres and Phillies. Zack Wheeler will take the mound for Philadelphia against Yu Darvish, who is seeking his third win of the postseason. Mike Petriello of MLB.com examines the position-by-position matchups ahead of game 1.

The BBWAA has announced the order in which the MLB awards will be announced next month. The finalists will be revealed on November 7, followed by the Rookies of the Year on the 14th, Managers of the Year on the 15th, the Cy Young Awards on the 16th, and the MVPs on the 17th.

The World Baseball Classic pools have been finalized following the conclusion of the qualifier tournaments. Panama will join Pool A (Taichung, Taiwan), the Czech Republic is joining Pool B (Tokyo, Japan), Great Britain has joined Pool C (Phoenix, AZ), and Nicaragua is in Pool D (Miami, FL).

1973: Jerry Koosman and Tug McGraw combine to throw a two-hit shutout as the Mets win Game 5 of the World Series, 2-0. They now lead the A’s 3-2 heading back to Oakland.

2006: Jose Reyes hits a lead-off homer against Chris Carpenter to kickstart a 4-2 victory in game 6 of the NLCS, forcing a decisive Game 7. John Maine throws 5 2/3 scoreless innings, and Billy Wagner bends but doesn’t break in securing the win.

2015: In Game 2 of the NLCS, the Mets attack Jake Arrieta for three runs in the first inning, courtesy of a David Wright RBI double and a Daniel Murphy two-run homer. Murphy has now homered in four straight games. Noah Syndergaard allows just one run and three hits, striking out nine, and Jeurys Familia secures the 4-1 win with a scoreless ninth inning, giving the Mets a 2-0 series lead.
