At first glance, it may appear that this nature lover is simply showing off their interesting collection of leaves and twigs.

But when you take a closer look, you may notice the picture is much more lively than you first assumed.

So, how many insects do you see?

The conservationist is in fact holding a collection of cool camouflage creatures in the palm of their hand.

Instead of picking up pretty remnants of a tree as autumn rolled in, they scouted out five extraordinary critters that can easily trick the human eye.

That’s because these bugs have the incredible ability to blend in among the outdoors as they resemble vegetation we see each day.

They manage to hide away from predators by concealing themselves among the undergrowth.

All of the things in the image are insects – serving as a reminder to never underestimate Mother Nature.

According to Cassowary Coast Wildlife Sanctuary, the image features an Oakleaf Butterfly, Orchid Mantis, Stick Insects and Leaf Insects.

The organisation based in Queensland, Australia, say most of these can be found in the bushes in back gardens Down Under – if you have an eye for detail.

Reddit users were left baffled by the revelation, dubbing the image “awesome” and “mind-blowing”.

One wrote: “My reaction was to find the insect, before it registered they are all insects! Nature is truly amazing. So beautiful!”

Another said: “It actually took a couple of seconds for me to notice!”

And a third wrote: “The two green ones blow my mind the most.”

Scientists suggest the insects began to mimic the appearance of leaves, flowers, and twigs thanks to random genetic mutations.

It has allowed them to hide away in vegetation to escape predators for millions of years.
