Conte outlines major difference between Spurs last season and now
Antonio Conte has said that Tottenham are now going into every game with the sole aim of getting three points, which was not the case at times last season.
Tottenham were at one their lowest points of the last decade when Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked a little less than 12 months ago, with Conte replacing the Portuguese coach in November of last year.
Since then, the Italian has had a transformative effect on the club, helping them to clinch fourth spot last season. The Lilywhites currently sit in third place in the Premier League table and at the top of their Champions League group.
Spurs have accumulated 23 points from their first 10 league matches of the season – the club’s best start in the Premier League era, with the North Londoners, also having won all of their last ten home matches across all competitions.
Conte admitted that the team is now in a completely different place to last season and spoke of the need to build on their good start.
The Italian told Football.London: “I think compared to last season, you can see more stability in this team. In every game, we go into the pitch with the will, with the desire that there is the possibility to get three points and win the game.
“Then it can happen in one game, like Arsenal, that you can lose but in every game, I think my players feel the possibility to try to fight to get three points.
“This has to be our target in every game to make difficult the life of our opponent. It was a good start for us but we know very well we have to continue in this way and it is important to start but the most important thing is the way to finish at the end of the season.”

I felt that some of the reaction from Spurs fans and opposition supporters to our defeat to Arsenal was over the top.
We were certainly well in the game and despite dominating possession, the Gunners hardly created any clear-cut chances until Emerson’s sending-off.
We have since proven since then that our results are very much sustainable with our current style of play, which many seemed to doubt after our loss at the Emirates.
