Neil Lennon sacked by Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia after just seven months in job – days after Man Utd heroics
CYPRIOT minnows Omonia Nicosia have given Neil Lennon the chop – just days after his side almost stunned Old Trafford.
Lennon and Co were minutes away from earning a point against Manchester United in the Europa League.
That was until an injury-time goal from Scott McTominay broke Omonia hearts.
The club also put in a good shift in their 3-2 home loss to the Red Devils the week before.
But performances have not lived up to expectations domestically.
Lennon has been axed after seven months in charge and following a 1-0 home defeat to Nea Salamis at the weekend.

The result left Omonia seventh in the Cypriot First Division, having won three and lost four of their seven league games this season.
Lennon led Omonia to Cypriot Cup glory back in May, but the club confirmed performances in the league led him being given the boot.
A statement said: “We inform you that we have agreed with Neil Lennon to stop our collaboration.
“Unfortunately, the ongoing competitive instability and the significant losses of points in the championship are the main reasons that made us decide to end our partnership.

Lennon was appointed Omonia boss back in February after a year out of the game.
He left Celtic in February 2021, and has also previously had spells in charge of Bolton and Hibernian.
