SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES EMERGE FOR THE LATEEF JAKANDE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY PROGRAMME

The Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions, Mrs. Ajibola Ponnle has charged successful candidates for the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy (LJLA) Fellowship Programme to demonstrate the confidence reposed in them with their selection.

Ponnle, who gave the charge during the final selection of the candidates for the Academy, said the successful applicants were selected on merit because they had demonstrated brilliance, resilience and competence, urging them to consider their selection as a privilege and that so much is expected from them.

The Commissioner noted that over 3000 applications were received and all applicants were taken through a series of thorough and rigorous screening and selection processes conducted by an independent consultant adjudged to be one of the best in the industry.

She continued: “At the end of the exercise, only 30 candidates made it through representing a small percentage of the candidates that applied. The essence of the screening exercise is to ensure that only the best candidates are identified and admitted into the Fellowship programme”.

Informing that the focus of the Fellowship is to develop the next generation of Leaders, Ponnle averred that the programme was designed to offer opportunities to young Nigerians for leadership positions by equipping them with the requisite skills to foster a commitment to public service while instilling the ethics and values of purposeful leadership.

According to the Commissioner, Governor Sanwo-Olu made a bold statement with the Academy by offering the platform for young, vibrant, innovative, service-oriented and value-driven individuals who will be trained and absorbed in Public Service in the State and across the nation.

She expressed confidence that the LJLA will in the long run be one of the important platforms that will continually motivate, mentor and produce young Nigerians for leadership positions.
