Cup gala for TSG against Schalke
The scenario
The two clubs went head-to-head again only four days after their last meeting. TSG Hoffenheim won 3-0 away to FC Schalke 04 on Friday and were now aiming to reach the DFB-Pokal last 16.
The line-up
Never change a winning team: head coach André Breitenreiter named an unchanged starting XI compared to the comfortable win in the Bundesliga. Only Nahuel Noll replaced Luca Philipp as the back-up goalie.
Number of the game: 7
TSG Hoffenheim have now found the net at least once in seven DFB-Pokal home games in a row.
Moment of the match
The third goal: TSG wrapped up the game on the stroke of half-time. Hoffenheim showed total composure and great quality with a passing move following a corner. Dennis Geiger played in Munas Dabbur, who was ruthless from a centre-right position in the box and hammered the ball into the roof of the net. The game was all-but over at that point.
Assist of the evening
In the fifth minute, Ozan Kabak won the ball back from Danny Latzka in midfield, then got the better of an opponent and played a perfect ball to play in Munas Dabbur. The striker kept his cool in front of goal and rounded off the great build-up work to make it 1-0 early on.
Outlook
TSG will play their next home game at the PreZero Arena on Saturday (15:30 CET), when FC Bayern Munich come to town. The draw for the DFB-Pokal round of 16 will take place a day later (19:15 CET). Then TSG fans will find out who the opponents in the last 16 will be.
