Jonathan Rowson: The lawsuit is written like a tabloid article
Today, Hans Niemann filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court (Eastern District of Missouri, Eastern Division). Plaintiff Hans Moke Niemann, represented by his attorneys Oved & Oved LLP and local Missouri counsel The Gartner Law Firm, is seeking a total of 400 million USD in damages from “Sven Magnus Øen Carlsen aka Magnus Carlsen, Play Magnus as Play Magnus Group, Chess.com LLC, Daniel Rensch aka Danny Rensch, and Hikaru Nakamura”
Rowson says, “The lawsuit is written like a tabloid article with a “Better call Saul” vibe, and the $100,000,000 figure seems designed to grab attention,” but then clarifies, “that doesn’t mean the underlying case is unsound. Prima facie, there is a case to answer. I’m very curious to see what happens next.”
