Richard, 66, who has long divided fans of GMB, was slammed by furious viewers of the show over his line of questioning.

He was criticised for “patronising” the MP after he was seen praising him for asking one of their questions on the breakfast show.

Richard asked Bridget Phillipson: “Can you just tell us what you would do? Would you raise taxes and cut spending?”

“I want to be the next Education Secretary so I would remove the tax breaks that private schools enjoy and put that into state education,” she replied.

“Thanks for giving us an answer, that was good,” Richard then said back to her after she finished speaking.

GMB viewers flooded Twitter after the comment to complain that he was being “misogynist” through the “patronising” passing comment.

One furiously penned: “Madeley is too patronising. I’d refuse to be interviewed by such a biased misogynist.”

While another chimed in: “Richard Madeley is a patronising a**e. Get him off,” as a third agreed: “I hope Richard is this rude when he speaks to a Tory MP later on GMB.”

“Labour MP on GMB sounds quite level-headed even if Richard is trying to catch her out,” someone else praised the MP.

It comes after Richard locked horns in a furious clash with a guest earlier this week who said she wasn’t proud to be British.

The ITV daytime show hosted a debate on patriotism after former prime minister Liz Truss’s chaotic 44 days in power made Britain a laughing stock on the world stage.

Comedian Kate Smurthwaite appeared opposite political commentator Dominique Samuels to give their thoughts.

The comedian  launched into a tirade against Britain’s history of Empire and the slave trade, and then asked: “When were we proud to be British?”

Richard threw his hand up into the air and exclaimed: “Excuse me!” as he continued to fight back against the comedian.

While elsewhere, Richard was slammed for his “awful’ question to a Sandy Hook victim’s dad on Good Morning Britain.

During his stint on the show, Richard was keen to know if Robbie had any “revenge fantasies” planned and fans were left unimpressed.
