EastEnders star James Bye slams Strictly Come Dancing exit calling it ‘one of the worst experiences of my life’
EASTENDERS star James Bye has branded his Strictly Come Dancing exit as “one of the worst experiences of my life”.
The 38-year-old became the fifth celebrity to leave the competition when he found himself in the dreaded dance-off for the first time and was up against singer and broadcaster Fleur East, following a Halloween-inspired live show.
Last night James discussed his departure during an emotional appearance on It Takes Two with his pro partner Amy Dowden.
He told host Rylan Clark: “It was up there with one of the worst experiences of my life.
“She knows what she is doing, she is very good, and I love her to bits, it’s horrible competing with someone who I’ve got close with and I know is a lovely person, and I knew I was going to go!”
James – who is best known for playing Martin Fowler – left Amy in tears as he paid tribute to the Welsh pro.

He said: “I’ve had such an amazing time but Amy is what Strictly is all about.
“I have never worked with anybody, in any line of work, that has loved her job as much as Amy does.
“She gives this show every part of her body, she is such a lovely human being, she will be in my life forever. She is amazing. But this is what Strictly is all about and they are so lucky to have her.”
