New model of the DeLorean being built 37 years after being immortalised in original Back to the Future film
A NEW model of the DeLorean — the car made famous by the Back To The Future film franchise — is being built.
John DeLorean’s daughter Kat has designed a two-seater with gull-wing doors just like his iconic 1980s motor.
It will be named the JZD, her dad’s initials.
DeLorean Next Generation Motors (DNG) will begin assembly in January in Detroit, Michigan, and should be unveiled by the end of 2023.
Some of the team behind the original will help with the project.
The firm said: “Her engineering background, and direct involvement, make Kat the perfect successor to finish where John DeLorean left off.”

The car’s price and specs are not yet known.
Its predecessor was a time machine in the 1985, 1989 and 1990 films starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd.
