San Jose: Driver arrested in connection with hit-and-run
SAN JOSE – A driver has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run collision that injured an elderly woman and a toddler last week in San Jose, according to police.
On Oct. 27, a person reported seeing a car similar to one featured in a news release about the crash, the San Jose Police Department said in a statement Wednesday.
Officers went to a residence in San Jose and found the car. They also spoke with a 20-year-old woman who told them she was the driver that was involved in the hit-and-run collision, according to police.
The woman was arrested and booked her into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on a felony hit-and-run charge, police said. She was no longer in custody as of Wednesday.
The crash was reported Oct. 25 at 5:40 p.m. near Sierra Road and Mauna Kea Lane.
An elderly woman was pushing a toddler in a stroller in a marked crosswalk when both were struck by a gray four-door hatchback traveling westbound at a “high rate of speed,” according to police. The pair’s injuries were described as not life-threatening.
