Milan may cash in on de Ketelaere after poor start
Leeds and Newcastle Utd have been put on high alert after rumours that AC Milan may choose to cash in on Charles de Ketelaere. The 21yo has struggled since arriving at the San Siro in the Summer. In 899 minutes of game time in all competitions, he has yet to score, and with a 'Whoscored' rating of just 6.58 has dropped to 17th (out of 26) in their squad rankings. Leeds spent several weeks chasing the Belgium star, but ultimately missed out, as the lure of Milan was greater than Leeds. It wasn't a straight forward transfer. The Italian Champions had trouble raising the €32m fee (plus €3m in add-ons), raising concerns that they cannot afford to carry any passengers that aren't performing.
Adams - not inclined to keep his mouth shut
Tyler Adams is 'not inclined to keep his mouth shut'; that's according to Leeds Utd journalist Phil Hay. The former Chief Football Writer for the YEP revealed that when the USA International midfielder arrived at Elland Road, he already had a swagger about him, as if he was already part of the Elland Road furniture, albeit, overnight. His 'aggression and positive, obstinate personality' was a fundamental reason why Marsch was keen to work with the USA International for a third time. Hay also intimated that Marsch and Adams were alike in many ways, further strengthening the bond they have. According to Hay...
The players at Leeds picked up on that self-confidence almost as soon as Adams signed. There was no settling-in period or nervous integration; more a swagger that made him feel like part of the dressing room’s furniture overnight.
People who know him and Jesse Marsch talk about them being alike, about their shared traits and attitudes. They are fundamental to the fact that Marsch has worked with Adams at three different clubs. Marsch rates his drive, his aggression and his positive, obstinate personality." "He accepts that Adams knows his own mind and is not inclined to keep his mouth shut. He finds something infectious about the midfielder looking at reputations and shrugging his shoulders."
When Adams joined Leeds from RB Leipzig in July, he was asked in his first interview about similarities between him and Marsch. I’m more competitive, he said, and deep down he was serious. Marsch signings all coming good
During the Summer, many fans were highly critical of Jesse Marsch for signing players he had already worked with, or were part of the Red Bull franchise, but in reality it seems to be paying off. Tyler Adams, Brenden Arronsen and Marc Roca have all hit the ground running since arriving at Elland Road during the Summer. Even Rasmus Kristensen is beginning to show his worth. His recently improved performances have seen his Whoscored' rating rocket up to 6.84, leaving him 2nd in the entire squad.
In essence, Leeds made no bad signings during the Summer. Sinisterra looks a handful, but has been unlucky with injury whilst Gyabi, Perkins and Gnonto will undoubtably come good in the future. Would it be fair to say the the early signs show that recruitment under Marsch has been a lot more successful, than under his predecessor?
