US Embassy in Tajikistan to Offer Visa Services for Afghan, Iranian, and Russian Nationals

The US Embassy in Tajikistan has announced that the nationals of Afghanistan, Russia, Iran, Uzbekistan, and other countries can get non-immigrant visas to visit the US from Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.

According to a post on the embassy’s official Facebook page, the issuance of visas began in November and is expected to continue through the months of December, January, and February.

Russian, Uzbek, Afghan, Iranian, and other non-resident nationals may apply for a non-immigrant visa at the US Embassy in Dushanbe, according to the US Embassy’s statement.

Iranians also cannot receive US non-immigrant visas in Iran owing to the fact that the US and Iran have severed diplomatic relations, meaning that there is no US embassy in Iran and likewise, there is no Iranian embassy in the US.

Due to the Russian government’s statement on April 23 forbidding the US Embassy in Russia from hiring foreign nationals in any capacity, the US mission in Russia no longer provides non-diplomatic visa services.

Russian nationals can still make appointments to apply for non-immigrant visas at any embassy or consulate of the US they can obtain an appointment.

This comes as after Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, collapsed to the Taliban, the US embassy in Afghanistan was shut down, and its operations are now handled from outside the country, in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
