Heidi Ondrak revealed how to keep your front room warm and bright without running up bills[/caption] She decided to kit her room out in candles and fairlights[/caption]Heidi Ondrak, otherwise known as The Duchess of Thrift on TikTok shared her clever hack with followers.
She first showed how she used battery-operated fairy lights to brighten the house up without turning the main lights on.
She said: “These are my lovely Primark £1.50 fairy lights I’m using, they really light that corner up.”
The money-saving mum had also put some around her front room to light it up while the family watched TV.

Heidi had also lit a bunch of candles and had placed them around the room – which not only added extra lighting but gave the family some additional heat.
She added: “We’ve got all these candles lit and we’ve got the door closed and it’s making it really toasty.”
The mum-of-two continued: “So if you shut the door the amount of heat you’re getting off these candles, were all sat in here watching tele anyway so we don’t have to put the heating anywhere else.
“They’ve taken the chill off the room, it’s absolutely perfect.”

One wrote: “You’ve inspired me to put lights on plants & battery led strips in alcoves – feels cosy and will be good if there is blackout. I’ll add candles next.”
Another person commented: “Great tips Looks lovely. It’s not cold yet anyway so I don’t know why anyone would have heating on right now, unless they’re ill of course.”
