I’M A Celeb star Jill Scott has admitted that she suffers from
imposter syndrome – despite bringing football home with the Lionesses this summer.

The ex-midfielder, 35, has swapped the pitch for the jungle after
retiring from the sport in August and has since signed up to the hit
ITV show which has returned Down Under following the pandemic.

But Jill, who is one of England’s most decorated players with 161
caps, revealed that she still has to pinch herself at star-studded
events like the National Television Awards.

After presenting an award at the NTAs last month alongside former
teammates Leah Williamson and Millie Bright, Jill said: “Since the
Euros I have been in a few different situations like the National
Television Awards where I had a bit of imposter syndrome.

“I was around so many stars and I am a big fan of the soaps. Just
seeing so many different people.”

Jill, who is set to join Coronation Street’s Sue Cleaver and Hollyoaks
actor Owen Warner in camp, added: “I don’t see myself as a celebrity,
not by any means.

Former I'm a Celeb star tells Matt Hancock how to survive the jungle

“I’m just somebody who loves playing football and I give my heart and soul for it.

“So yes, there definitely will be imposter syndrome but I’m not afraid
to say that because as I said, I’m a big fan of certain things.”

Asked how she has coped with fame since the Euros, Jill, who runs a
coffee shop with her partner Shelly Unitt in Manchester, said: “We
have had some lovely moments of people coming up to you in the street
and literally just saying ‘thank you’, shaking your hand and walking
off.

“Somebody approached me when I was in London and said they had a
really difficult time in the summer and that football pulled them
through. So for me so far it has been really nice experiences.”

She added: “I’ve always wanted to inspire before you expire. So if I
can give my time to a young girl or a young boy, you take a picture or
sign an autograph and just know that you’ve made their day.

“I think it probably goes back to that element of my purpose which has always been to help people.

“If I can help people in a small moment like that, then it’s really special for me.”
