Sonia Gandhi declined to become the prime minister though she had the opportunity, and passed it on to eminent economist Manmohan Singh, he said, speaking at a Sarvodaya Convention organised by the party in Bengaluru on his maiden visit to his home state after taking over the reins of the party.
