My Dad and 75 years (19 replies)

My Dad (he's still alive) was born in Small Heath and has always followed the Blues but unlike me he could never remember his first game. Mine was 23.4.73 at home to West Ham, Bobby Moore played.
Then a couple of months ago Dad messaged me and said he got up in the night and as he was trying to get back to sleep, he had a memory flashback. It was around his 5th birthday and he was on his Dad's shoulders (my Grandad, obviously) and he was going to the Blues as part of his birthday present,the only other thing he could remember was Doncaster Rovers. I checked this out and on 8.11.1947, Blues played Doncaster at home (Won 3-0) so today marks the 75th anniversary of my Dad's first game. He finds at hard to go these days due to his age but he still has new top each season and still loves the club. It's not a very interesting story but isn't it amazing what your memory can dredge up.
