Taliban Releases Kidnapped Child in Northeastern Afghanistan, Arrests Two

Local Taliban officials in the province of Kapisa in northeastern Afghanistan stated that Taliban forces rescued a child from kidnappers’ captivity and arrested two people in connection with the kidnapping.

Earlier on Thursday, November 10, the Taliban government’s press wing of the Ministry of Interior Affairs announced that a businessman’s son who had been abducted from the Kohistan region of Kapisa province had been released.

The child was abducted from the Jamal Agha neighborhood in Kohistan’s Hessa Dowom region some time ago, according to the update from the Taliban Ministry of Interior Affairs.

Two people have been detained on suspicion of reportedly having the child kidnapped in the Kohistan area of Kapisa province by Taliban security personnel, the update said.

According to the reports that are currently available, kidnapping and extortion on this scale have recently grown in Kabul and a few other provinces, demanding hefty ransoms for the freedom of those kidnapped.

This comes as the Taliban government security officials initiated a security camera installation campaign in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, in an attempt to improve the security situation.
