British passenger liner RMS Titanic sank on April 15, 1912, after colliding with an iceberg, taking over 1,500 people to a watery grave at the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean. The shipwreck was found for the first time in 1985, at a depth of 12,415 feet (3,800 meters), around 690 kilometers south-southeast of the coast of Newfoundland.
