I’ve worked in a restaurant for 20 years – the lies we tell & what we really think if you say you’re gluten free
A WOMAN who has worked in the restaurant business for 20 years has opened up about the lies she and her colleagues tell their customers.
Acire took to TikTok to share some “harsh truths” about her job, but insisted in the caption: “I don’t make the rules”.
“As a bartender and someone who’s worked in restaurants for 20 years, I’m gonna tell you some harsh truths,” she began.
The first was that “if you ask us to adjust the temperature, we’re gonna lie to you and say we did”.
“The cappuccino machine is not broken,” she added.
She also revealed that “if you ordered fries, just know that every single person on the way from the kitchen to the dining room has stolen one”.

Acire continue to explain that she and her colleagues judge those who can’t control their kids, and are also able to “fake ginger ale with Sprite and Coke”.
She concluded by saying: “If the first words out of your mouth are ‘I’m gluten free’ we’re all gonna assume you’re a b**ch.”
“I’m a chef..i confirm everything !! especially the fries situation,” one person commented on the video.
“As a cook for over 20 years, I confirm everything on this list!” another added.

“The gluten free (by choice) is 100% true,” someone else wrote.
As another commented: “I too worked in the service industry and i can attest every single one of these is 100% true. lol.”
But others weren’t quite as convinced by Acire’s video.
“Worked in many restaurants for the last 15 years, never stolen food from a plate or seen anyone do it…” one wrote.
As another added: “As a bartender for 10 years, I’ve never done the ginger ale thing & never will.
“Also I’ve never touched a guest’s food, only my coworkers lol.”
