According to sources, high expenditure in certain blocks in Telangana under MGNREGA had raised red flags in the ministry. A central team was deployed from June 9 to 12 and it found that "non-permissible work (like construction of fish drying platforms or staggered trenches in forest areas) was undertaken under MGNREGA".
