CalcioMercatoWeb.it have revealed that Arsenal are now expected to wrap up a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back Evan Ndicka, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham over recent weeks.
Ndicka has been a mainstay in the Frankfurt backline for the last four and a half years and Antonio Conte saw the centre-back’s quality first-hand in Tottenham’s two Champions League games against the German club this season.
The Frenchman’s days at Deutsche Bank Park now appear numbered, with his current contract running out at the end of the season (Transfermarkt).
Reports over recent months have indicated that Tottenham are battling the likes of AS Roma, AC Milan and Newcastle United for the 23-year-old’s signature (Romagiallorossa.it).
Il Romanista claimed a couple of weeks ago that Ndicka is also of interest to Arsenal, with the publication stating that the Gunners are looking to snap him up on a free transfer next summer.
Arsenal’s interest in the Frankfurt star has now been backed up by CMW.it while reporting on Juventus’ pursuit of Gabriel Magalhaes.
The report states that the Serie A giants might soon be free to snap up the Brazilian as Arsenal are now expected to strengthen in central defence with the addition of Ndicka.
The publication adds that a deal to take the Frankfurt star to the Emirates is in ‘the pipeline’ and that the player is expected to sign with Mikel Arteta’s side next summer.
Spurs Web Opinion
Ndicka is now free to negotiate pre-contract agreements with clubs outside Germany, owing to his contract situation. So, one would expect several Premier League clubs, including Spurs, to contact the centre-back’s representatives over the next days and weeks if they have not done so already.
