Love Island star Lana Jenkins reveals how she didn’t apply to join the show and was approached by show bosses
LOVE Island star Lana Jenkins is no stranger to fame after previously appearing in hit ITV show Benidorm.
But the 25-year-old blonde beauty had no intentions to apply for the hit reality series, until she was approached by ITV bosses.
Lana revealed: “I was approached and it’s been so amazing from the get-go.
“I hadn’t thought about doing the show prior to that I was just working and didn’t have it in my head at all.”
But when she got the opportunity to star on the dating show, it was a no-brainer for the Luton-born lass.
She continued: “When it came about I thought, ‘OK, this is an opportunity that not many people get and I am single’
“I think I’m still young so I thought why not go for something and find someone that way.”
Before agreeing however, Lana enlisted the help of her mum, who she says she’s “very close” with.
Her mum encouraged her to take part, but they spoke about the pros and cons of the series.
Lana shared: “My mum she said it was amazing, and asked ‘when will you ever get an opportunity like this.’
“My mum did say I needed to think about everything but we sat down and had chats about it but the pros are endless. I’m so thankful.
“Everyone – my friends and family – were all so onboard, and wanted it for me and supported my decision.”
Discussing her best-known claim to fame, Lana revealed that she was just six-years-old when she made her TV debut.
She said: “In my work as a makeup artist I’ve worked with lots of celebrities. Also, when I was 6-years-old I used to live in Spain and I was in an episode of Benidorm as an extra.”
Lana will join hunky P.E teacher Kai Fagan and biomedical science student Tanya Manhenga, 22, in the South African manor house.
Speaking about finding romance on the show, she said: “I fall in love quickly.
“I tend to know quite soon if I could fall in love with that person and then, as long as everything is going well, I’ll probably tell them I love them in about a week.”
Love Island returns to screens on Monday 16 January on ITV2
