European Hockey secures €250k grant for digital transformation from the European Union

0

11th January 2022, Brussels, Belgium: The European Hockey Federation has secured a grant of €250k from the European Union to undergo a “Digital Transformation” that will bring a step-change to how the continental federation serves its 42-member national associations.

The goal of the Digital Transformation (DIGI) project is to revolutionise EuroHockey’s processes, and to develop and improve sports leadership and governance throughout Europe at all levels.

By sharing knowledge through connecting a range of continental and global sports organisations, the project will facilitate the correct processes, programmes, and environments to maximise understanding, implementation, and application of new Digital Tools to be used by the 42-member National Associations.

We will partner with Digital Transformation agency Skylark Creative which helped formulate the concept of DIGI.

Tracking the needs and activity of the EuroHockey member National Associations will result in the use of accurate data which will ensure better strategic decision-making for our nations and EuroHockey.

The DIGI project will initially pilot with three National Association members – the Czech Republic, France, and Poland – to improve the functionality and sustainability of the digital transformation across the European hockey family.

It will also involve an overhaul of EuroHockey’s website and associated digital platforms while incorporating a refresh of the EuroHockey brand.

Simon Mason, Executive Board member and co-chair of the Commercial and Communications Committee enthused: “It is one of EuroHockey’s primary goals to support our member nations, to help them deliver hockey as effectively and efficiently as possible.

Enhancing all the good work they already do with modern, powerful digital tools is a valuable step forward. The project’s digital tools will be utilised and disseminated to support all member National Associations by early 2024, positioning hockey to be a pioneer of digital tools to empower our sport in effecting change for good.”

The Digital Transformation project is co-funded by the European Union and the first partner meeting will be in late January 2023 with the project ending in June 2024.

It comes under the auspices of the European Education and Culture Executive Agency. Through their funding programmes, they give European organisations the opportunity to work together on common projects in addition to learning more about cultural diversity in Europe along with our rights and responsibilities as citizens.
