One of those who gave this trick a go was Dustin Hadley, better known to his 258k fans as That40yearguy on TikTok.
According to Dustin, who was also recently stunned by a microwave hack, the answer is quite simple.
Sharing the game-changer of a cooking tip, the man revealed that all you need to do is take a spoon and place it underneath the lid vertically.
To remove the lid, push it an upwards motion and watch magic happen – the lid will pop off with no effort.
”You’re telling me that for 40 years I’ve been having to get my wife every time to open up a jar I could’ve been doing this?
”Ain’t no way,” the bloke was shocked at how easy it was.
”Never ask for help again with those pesky lids,” he chuckled in the caption of the now-viral clip.
And it’s not just Dustin who couldn’t believe his eyes – people on social media were just as stunned, with hundreds flocking to comments to thank the man.

”What are all of us wives going to do now?!” one joked.
Another recommended it too, writing: ”Yes! Been doing this for many years. I love this hack.”
Someone else advised: ”My mom taught me to gently tap the lid with the end of a butter knife all around the perimeter. Works every time.”
Chopping up some onions to go with your salad too? One woman recently shared a 1p trick that will stop the tears flowing.
Trina Michelle, from Torquay, Canada, claimed that you can leave your swimming goggles behind or forget about holding wooden spoons in your mouth – as the best trick she’s come across involves a damp paper towel.
In her post, Trina explained that by placing a wet paper towel next to your chopping board while you chop your onions, the chemicals in this root vegetable will gravitate toward the towel instead of your eyes.
“Did you know the reason you ‘cry’ when you chop onions, is that the chemical in the onion is attracted to the nearest source of water (which is usually the eyes).
”If you place a wet paper towel next to your chopping board, the onion will gravitate towards that, and not your eyes.”
Trina’s post received a mix of reactions from fellow users online – but for the most part, many home cooks said the trick “helps so much” with making sure they don’t prepare the meal a sobbing mess.
“Shut the front door! Definitely trying it,” commented one cooking enthusiast.
Someone else had tried the trick and wrote: ”YES! Can confirm this helped soooo much [sic].”
“I love that no matter how old you are, you can still learn new things. Sure going to do this one!” a third thanked the whizz.
”I definitely have to try this! Usually by the third or fourth slice into the onion, my eyes are watering so badly I can’t see what I’m doing,” a fan appeared to have been convinced.
