International lenders were refusing to give funds. The floods pushed any kind of economic recovery out of the realm of possibility. Pakistan hopes to secure concessions from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) established in 2019, and support from friendly countries. The International Conference on Climate Resilient Pakistan, jointly hosted by Pakistani prime minister Shehbaz Sharif and UN secretary general Antonio Guterres, provided some relief.
