Shocking moment biker kills ‘Hells Angels’ gang rival for wearing ‘wrong colours’ in van horror smash

THIS is the chilling moment a driver ran over and killed a rival motorbike gang member in a “brutal” horror smash.

David Crawford was dragged for almost half a mile before being left for dead at the side of the road.

Shocking footage shows the moment Benjamin Parry mows the 59-year-old down as he rode his bike in PlymouthDevon.

Parry can be seen speeding up as he approached David, who was stationary at the time alongside a black Mercedes.

He then ploughed into the back of the 2,000cc black Kawasaki motorcycle David was perched on at 28mph.

The granddad had been blocked in by Thomas Pawley, 32, and Chad Brading, 36, who were in the Mercedes, and therefore had no escape from raging Parry.

The footage was released by police today as the trio were jailed for a total of 20 years.

The trio – all former servicemen – were convicted of manslaughter after acting as a “joint enterprise”.

Plymouth Crown Court heard how they “deliberately targeted” David – a member of Red Chiefs Motorcycle Club, which is affiliated with the Hells Angels.

David was run off the road because it was considered “insulting” for a member of one club to ride in a rival club’s patch wearing ‘colours’ – the badges and emblems of that club.

BIKER GANG FEUD

Parry meanwhile was an “active member” of the rival Bandidos Motorcycle Club.

Co-killer Pawley was the gang’s “officer” with rank of “road captain”.

David had earlier been seen peeling away from his own motorbike club as he rode while wearing the crew’s colours.

All three killers then “worked together” through a series of calls and “signals” to hunt their victim down.

David was initially knocked onto the bonnet of the van and then under the vehicle before being pulled for several metres.

His bike was later found lying on its side with deep welts made on the road where it had been dragged.

David sustained “massive injuries” in the horror smash despite wearing protective clothing with the left side of his helmet worn down to “almost nothing”.

He sadly couldn’t be saved and was declared dead at the scene.

Police found the number plate from Parry’s van after it was flung off during the horror and traced the killer to his home.

When quizzed by officers, he said: “I only intended to bump the back of his bike.

“When I realised I had knocked him off the bike I panicked and drove on.”

Parry was found not guilty of murder but previously admitted manslaughter.

Brading and Parry were also convicted of the alternative charge of manslaughter.

‘SICKENING’ ATTACK

Sentencing them at Exeter Crown Court today, The Honourable Mr Justice Garnham said the footage ‘makes frankly for sickening viewing’.

Jailing them, he said: “In my judgement, you, Parry, bear by far the bulk of the responsibility for the death of Mr Crawford.

“Your unlawful act of driving into Mr Crawford was an intentional act to cause injury.

“You played a significant, if not leading, role in this joint enterprise. You, along with Pawley and Banding, planned there should be an attack on Mr Crawford.

“Very significant mental and physical torture was caused to the deceased as he was dragged along the road for almost a kilometre under your van.

“After the collision, you drove off with Mr Crawford trapped under your van.

“After you came to accept that’s what happened, you continued to drive, leaving Mr Crawford dead or dying in the road.”
