Ex-billionaire playboy James Stunt got £289 legal aid to fight claim he racially abused cop
BANKRUPT James Stunt was given £289 in legal aid to fight claims he racially abused a cop.
The playboy ex of F1 heiress Petra Ecclestone got the cash in 2020, an information request shows.
Stunt, 40, denies racially harassing PC Richard Harper at his £3.9million former home in London.
He was declared bankrupt in 2019 after losing a £3billion fortune.
In April, he faces a retrial for an alleged £266million money-laundering scam.
David Spencer, of the Centre for Crime Prevention, said: “The fact that this ‘billionaire’ can claim trifling sums from the taxpayer is an indictment of the legal aid system.”
The Ministry of Justice said legal aid was available to everyone.
