A consignment of millets from the state of Odisha was exported to Dubai the first from Odisha. The shipment was sourced from women-managed farmer producer organizations (WMPOs), Shaktimayee Ward Mission (SHakti Mahasangha), Shakti Mahasangha Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), and facilitated by Additional Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena of the Agriculture Production Commission. The exporter, based in Kolkata, took the initiative to send the consignment to Dubai. Officials say more such shipments will be planned and APEDA will provide market linkages to boost export.
