Cracked road: Activists ask CM for VB probe

The Ludhiana city public action committee has filed a complaint with the Chief Minister's Office asking for a thorough probe into the construction of the city's gill road. The committee has also requested for the recovery of public money from the contractor and officials of the municipal corporation. The committee has alleged that the quality of the construction work was low and that the samples were taken by a team from Guru Nanak Engineering College but the report was never made public. The committee claimed that Pac member Kuldeep Khaira said "one can easily assess that the grooves are empty as bitumen was too thick to enter these grooves; the bitumen laying on top surface has resulted into a slippery surface which may lead to slipping of vehicles."
