‘Govt school students have more concern towards environment’

The Vice President of the Association of British Scholars in Mangalore, Ramachandra Bhat, said that children from poorer sections of society are more concerned about the environment and conservation than their counterparts from wealthier backgrounds. He spoke at the Eco-Friendly School Award Ceremony at Mangalore University on Saturday. The event was organized in collaboration with ABSMangaluru. Mr. Doreswamy, an advisor to Education Reforms in Karnataka, paid an official visit to the school. Mr. Bhat said that government school children live and learn alongside nature, which helps them understand environmental problems. The school with 150 students won first place for being the top ecofriendly school. The second prize was awarded to DKP Government High School Konaje Padavu, and the third prize went to Ramakrishna Aided High School Harekala. The government's school adoption policy allows for the adoption of up to 15 schools.
