A 5-day-old baby boy was abandoned by his parents in Pandavapura, Mandya district, on Saturday. A passerby saw the baby and alerted the police. The police and the officers of the Women and Child Welfare Department rushed to the spot. The baby was taken to Pandavapura Government Hospital in an ambulance. The doctor checked the baby's health and found that he had symptoms of jaundice. The baby was rushed to Mims' Hospital for further treatment and is now in the ICU. A member of the district child protection unit has been appointed to take care of the baby.
