Final 3rd issues
He's played roughly 2 games of minutes
He has scored 2 goals from centre midfield.
For context that is more than Roca, Adams, Harrison, Aaronson, McKennie, Bamford, Greenwood who have all played more minutes.
Only Summerville and Rodrigo have scored more than 2 league goals all season.
Even Gnonto for all the praise has only 2 goals in far more minutes.
I realise Southampton are below us but it does highlight our issue.
A 20 year old none attacking midfielder has more league goals than the majority of our 1st team in only 2 matches of minutes.
I wouldn't be shocked if Greenwood, Roca, Adams, McKennie the similar position players for us don't score 2 goals between them between now and the end of the season.
Outside of Rodrigo and to a degree Summerville our attacking players have let us down.
And even Rodrigo has never been a natural finisher, never scored 20 goals in a season.
Harrison and Bamford have always been wasteful it's beyond a joke now.
Rutter is a kid with potential but equally is wasteful which was highlighted before he arrived.
Aaronson is a sprinter who guess what? Came with a reputation for a poor end product.
Roca and Adams have barely scored in there entire careers or created a chance.
McKennie seems to have a few more goals in him but seems terrified of shooting.
Gnonto for all his praise and potential again came with a reputation for a nothing special end product (his numbers in Switzerland were worse than Alioski).
We have a team full of players with reputations for poor end product
Or potential but not ready yet for any sort of consistent quality
Begs the question
What do we do?
Play the more experienced players like Bamford and Harrison in the hope they hut one of there purple patches?
Press on with the kids like Rutter and Gnonto in the hope the fearlessness of youth shines through?
