South Windsor father accused of allowing child to play with fire near condo building
A South Windsor father has been charged after police say he allowed a child to play with fire near a condo building.
Anand Rawat, 42, was charged Saturday after police and firefighters responded to Candlewood Drive at about 2 p.m. on the report of a child attempting to put out a fire on a concrete slab, according to the South Windsor Police Department. The fire, which police say was “in close proximity” to a condo building, left scorch marks on a wind chime that was about 7 feet off the ground, according to police.
No injuries were reported.
Police said Rawat was charged with one count of first-degree reckless endangerment after authorities found that he had allowed his son to burn some papers on a concrete slab.
Rawat was given a misdemeanor summons and is scheduled to appear before a judge in Manchester Superior Court on March 29.
