US News & World Report on Tuesday issued its annual ranking of the best new cars for families. After evaluating 92 models, nine 2023 vehicles across nine categories stood out from all the rest. Whether you're into a fuel-sipping hybrid or a spacious SUV, US News has you covered. 

What constitutes a great car for families in the eyes of US News? It needs high marks in three categories: interior space, overall quality, and family-friendly features. 

Space amounts to passenger and cargo room. Overall quality takes into account vehicle reviews, safety stats, and reliability ratings. Family-focused features that boost a vehicle's score include things like in-car WiFi, automatic emergency braking, hands-free cargo hatches (for opening the trunk with an armful of groceries), and parental controls for new drivers.
