I always put my husband first and choose not to work but my friends slam me for it – they say I’ve lost my dignity
AN Instagram model has made waves by revealing that she does not work and prides herself on putting her husband’s needs first.
She said many of her supposed friends have slammed her relationship and her decision to be a stay-at-home wife, with some even going as far as to say that she’s lost her dignity.
Monica Huldt knew from a young age that she was destined to be a doting wife.
The 37-year-old lives in Scottsdale, Arizona but is originally from Malmo, Sweden.
She considers herself to be a real-life “Stepford wife” to her 39-year-old husband, John.
Inspired by the 1972 novel and 1975 movie Stepford Wives, the term describes a married woman who meets a certain male ideal, submitting to her husband’s will and dedicating herself to domestic concerns and her own personal appearance.
She recently appeared in a YouTube video revealing her childhood friends say she has “lost my [her] dignity as a woman.”
“I’ve never been a woman that has strived to have a huge career,” she told Jam Press. “I don’t want to work, to be honest – I love being a housewife and taking care of my husband.”
“Ever since I saw that movie The Stepford Wives, I knew I wanted my life to be exactly like that,” she added.
However, this attitude isn’t for everyone – with men and women both having a problem with Monica’s approach to marriage.
“One of my exes wasn’t fond of that idea – so that’s why he’s now an ex,” she admitted.
“Women too will say I’m being crazy, or that I’m a disgrace to other women. But I don’t care – it’s my life and I love it.”
A typical day for the model revolves around taking care of the house, working out, and making sure her husband is fed.
“John loves my cooking. He always says food is my department and he just wants a nice dinner,” she said.
“If he asks me for something specific, he always gets what he wants.”
She regularly shares fitness snaps of her gym-honed body with her 220,000 Instagram followers on her account @swedish_bella_backup.
Monica’s husband also expects her to keep up appearances at home.
“John likes me to dress nicely at home, like sexy-sporty, and he doesn’t like me wearing make-up around the house,” Monica explained.
Though some people might not like it, their relationship dynamic works well for Monica and her partner.
