A MAN, who describes himself as being in the “top one per cent of frugal people”, shared how he saved £300k by the age of 29.
Tanner Firl plans to retire by the age of 35 and doesn’t even use a budget to plan his money.
Tanner lives with his wife Isabel in Minneapolis and avoid spending money at all costs.
He hopes to have £500k saved up before the age of 35 so he can retire.
Tanner shared his top tips for tucking away the cash and it’s pretty straight forward.
Speaking to CNBC, he said: “My top five tips for being frugal is to make it fun and get creative.
“You can get a loved one or a friend involved and help celebrate the wins.
“Doing something is better than doing nothing.

“Remember that when you’re saving money, you’re buying freedom.
“There’s no short supply of cheap and free experiences, you don’t need to deprive yourself.
“And frugality isn’t about doing without, it’s just about doing with substitutes.”
However, TikTokers weren’t impressed with his advice.
One person said: “I’ll bet he’s just a barrel of fun.”
Another said: “That’s not enough to live off for 30+ years.”
A third said: “I’d rather have memories!”
Another said: “Why does he think it’s enough to retire?”
While another agreed: “What’s the plan to retire? That next egg is gonna need to get big quick.”
