National Commission Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) Chairperson, Priyank Kanoongo, was reportedly heckled during a visit to Malda after being manhandled the day before in Kolkata while recording a statement from a victim’s family. Kanoongo was recording statements related to two separate cases involving the rape of a minor in Malda and the brutal murder of a seven-year-old in Kolkata. Kanoongo has accused the state Child Commission of hindering his work and preventing him from speaking independently with the victims and their families.
