UK weather: Met Office reveals Good Friday forecast as Brits look forward to four days off
THE Met Office have revealed their Good Friday forecast with Brits looking forward to four days off.
With Easter round the corner, those excited for the long weekend will be happy to learn that sunny spells are on the cards according to the forecaster.
The weather service said that “drier conditions” would be expected on Good Friday with “sunshine” in parts of the UK.
There will still be “cloudier weather” during the week with the Met Office predicting “showers spreading south-eastwards across most areas on Wednesday and Thursday”.
But the long stint of rain and winds will seemingly come to an end ahead of the bank holiday according to the forecaster.
Friday will be glorious and sunny for most, as will Saturday, with the exception of a few scattered showers.
Temperatures in London could reach up to 11C on Saturday, while more northern areas will be chillier at 7C to 8C.
For Easter Monday, the Met Office’s long-range forecast, suggests the south and southwest could be the most likely area for rain
The weather agency predicted for the week of April 7 to April 16 that warmer temperatures are to be expected, however, overnight the mercury will drop rapidly, opening the possibility to frost.
The Met Office long range forecast read: “Confidence is relatively low throughout this period, however many areas are expected to see mostly fine and dry weather, with sunny spells becoming increasingly common with time.
“Any cloud will bring a chance of spells of rain or drizzle to eastern areas on Friday, but then any rain is most likely across the west and southwest over the following week.
“Winds are expected to be relatively light. By mid-April, there is a chance of a period of more unsettled conditions bringing spells of wetter and windier weather more widely.
“Temperatures are likely to be near normal or slightly above, although these may drop quickly under any clear skies after dark, leaving scope for some overnight frosts.”
Today’s weather sees most of the UK enjoying plenty of sunshine after a chilly start.
And lighter winds will mean that most places should feel reasonably pleasant by the afternoon.
However, Northern Ireland and some western fringes of Scotland will be cloudier and breezier.
Most areas will be dry with long clear spells tonight although frost may develop overnight across southern, central and some eastern parts.
