Here's how Dustin Johnson has performed since joining LIV Golf
Dustin Johnson’s calculus before deciding to leave the PGA Tour for LIV Golf was simple. He said so himself.
The former world No. 1 golfer wanted to player fewer tournaments and earn more money, explaining on the Netflix series Full Swing that it was pretty much a no-brainer for him.
That may the be the case, but it hasn’t exactly been a winning move, either.
The 2020 Masters champion is now ranked 69th in the world in a league struggling to earn viewers on TV in Year 2. Even if he wanted to leave the Saudi-backed league at this point he likely couldn’t afford to break his contract.
So far Johnson’s results in LIV Golf events have been a mixed bag. He put together strong finishes in 2022 while struggling early on in 2023. As a reminder, LIV events only feature three rounds of play and no cuts.
2023:
- Mayakoba: 68-71-78 —37th place
- Tucson: 65-66-77 — 13th place
- Orlando: 67-70-66 — 7th place
2022:
- London: is 69-70-70 — 8th place
- Portland: 68-68-71— 4th place
- Bedminster: 67-69-68 — 3rd place
- Boston: 67-63-65 — 1st place
- Chicago: 63-73-70 — 3rd place
- Bangkok: 70-70-67 — 16th place
- Jeddah: 68-65-67 — 6th place
Johnson returns to August seeking his second green jacket and a sixth top-10 finish. He’ll begin the tournament +2500 at BetMGM to win outright.
