Carol Kirkwood swipes at Jon Kay & Nina Warhust to ‘get out more’ as they reveal dramatic reaction to first meeting her
BBC Breakfast weather presenter Carol Kirkwood took a savage swipe at Jon Kay and Nina Warhurst as they recalled their first meeting.
Carol, 60, told her co-stars “I don’t think you two get out much” during Tuesday’s instalement.
The presenting duo discussed their most memorable moments meeting their childhood heroes.
Nina couldn’t resist comparing her hero to the first time she met the Carol.
She confessed: “I was giddy the first time I met Carol in real life.”
Jon agreed: “So was I.”
The meteorologist commented: “I don’t think you two get out much, bless you. Good morning everybody.”
After the weather report, Nina shared the embarrassing moment she met her childhood hero Damon Albarn from the hit group Blur.
She said: “In this very studio I met Damon Albarn from Blur – he’s my teen hero. Unfortunately, I couldn’t stop talking and he looked like he was about to fall asleep.
“I started telling him about various forms of transport I used to go to see my first concert to see him. He was very polite, bless him.”
Jon chuckled and added: “Damon if you’re watching this morning and you’ve got a picture of the day you met Nina please get in touch with us in the usual way.”
Nina then begged the star not to submit the photo as she quickly moved on to the next segment of the show.
This comes after Carol’s other co-stars Sally Nugent and Ben Thompson dubbed their beloved colleague a “hero”.
After Carol’s weather report had ended, the presenters introduced the next segment on local heroes.
They mentioned it was going to be about people who cheer others up.
Ben said: “Forewarned is forearmed, which Carol is very good at helping us to be.”
To which Sally agreed with: “I think it’s appropriate that we’re going to go to this next story straight after we’ve been speaking to Carol.”
Ben smiled while Sally continued: “Because she brightens all of our lives.”
To which he responded with the accolade: “She’s our local hero.”
