Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal said that Lokpal's "constant silence" since appointing in 2019 shows how serious the government is in combatting corruption. Responding to PM Modi's comment about acting against corruption, Sibal claimed conviction of the corrupt was higher during the UPA rule. He also asked how many cases the Lokpal has taken up since his appointment and what the outcomes have been, which he suggested would show how serious the Modi government is about tackling corruption.
