While the BJP is seeking re-election in Karnataka, it is a partner in the coalition regime in Maharashtra. The state BJP leaders had hoped that its neighbour would not precipitate the matter until till the polls are over. Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) communication department head Priyank Kharge called Maharashtra's decision a mockery of India's federal structure.
