Football Insider have revealed that Newcastle United have moved into pole position to sign Tottenham target, James Maddison this summer.
The report reveals that Maddison has already rejected several contract offers from Leicester City and that the attacking midfielder, who enters the final year of his deal in June, is expected to leave the King Power Stadium this summer.

The Foxes are said to have given up hope of retaining the England international, who is thought to be on the radars of several top clubs.
Football Insider state that Spurs and Newcastle hold the ‘strongest interest’ in Maddison while the likes of Man City and Liverpool also keep tabs on the player’s situation.
However, it is explained that the Magpies are now the favourites to win the race for the Leicester City star as they are laying the groundwork for a summer deal.
Eddie Howe is said to have made it clear to the St James’ Park hierarchy that Maddison is his number one target, with the Foxes expected to demand a fee of around £60m to £70m for the player.
This comes after the Daily Mail reported that Daniel Levy is keen to push ahead for a move for Maddison no matter who the new Spurs manager is.

The fact that we do not have a full-time head coach or a director of football at the moment, means that we cannot really make any progress on potential transfer targets.
Even if we were to reach out to Maddison, he might not be too keen to come without knowing which manager he will be working with.
That certainly gives Newcastle a big advantage in the race for the 26-year-old’s signature.
