TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Topeka Fire Department responded to an intentionally set house fire in Central Topeka early Tuesday morning.
Firefighters found smoke and flames coming from a two-story house around 3 a.m. at 2030 SW Central Park Avenue, according to the fire department. They were able to control the fire so it did not spread. Crews determined the home was vacant and there was no one inside.
The TFD Investigation Unit said the fire was intentionally set and there were no working smoke detectors. The fire started on the first floor and did about $10,000 worth of damage, according to the department.
