I kicked out my abusive husband but now I want him back
DEAR DEIDRE: I THREW my husband out because he was so disrespectful but now I miss him so much.
He’s 38 and has always been abusive. I’m his 35-year-old wife.
We have a son of six. I don’t think my husband cheated but I found his profile on a dating site app saying he “wanted an upgrade”.
I found messages on his phone from other women. I confronted him and asked him to leave.
I went out to the shops and when I came back, he’d gone.
I feel so lonely that I’ve asked him to come back home but he says he’s moved on and I should too.

DEIDRE SAYS: It is tough, but to stay in a relationship where your husband is abusive is so damaging for your son.
Our parents are role models and if your husband came back and nothing changed, your boy may feel that this is “normal” family life.
Abuse is so damaging for kids.
You will find the strength to stick it out by talking with a counsellor through tavistockrelationships.org (020 7380 1975).
It also offers Parenting Together, a service for parents – whether they are together or apart – who are in conflict over issues, which may ensure your son gets support.
