Inside the UK’s ‘WORST’ Greggs with overflowing bins & ‘crime scene’ seating – but customers love it for specific reason
CUSTOMERS have dubbed a Greggs the ‘WORST’ in the UK – saying it has overflowing bins and seating that looks like a crime scene.
Even though some punters criticised the Greggs on Fitzroy Street in Cambridge, other customers said they keep going back for more steak bakes.
Greggs customer Adam Bailey told The Sun Online that his vegan sausage roll was “c**p” and that the store “looked like a crime scene”.
He added that the the toilets were out of order, with a sign stating apologies “for any inconvenience”.
Adam also said the bins were overflowing – but he praised the hard-working staff who served a long queue of customers.
Nik Tesanovic, a 19-year-old university student, said: “I’m not complaining,” as he ate a bacon and cheese wrap.
“If this is the worst, then point me to the best,” added his friend Adam Winter, 22.
Another student claimed the chain was mediocre as a whole, and this branch was not any worse than others.
He said: “It’s actually quite tasty for Greggs. But the bar is set low.
“I eat here frequently. Not because the food is good but because it is convenient.”
But more unforgiving customers have blasted the café on Tripadvisor.
They slammed the “very rude staff” and “dirty tables” with one even claiming it was the worst in Britain.
Another agreed and labelled it the worst café they had ever set foot in.
This was echoed by someone else who was too scared to put her bag on the floor because it was so filthy.
The branch has been rated 2.5 out of five on the review website, ranking it 120 out of 135 quick-bite cafes in the university city.
Rebecca Smith, came out with a box of Belgian buns with her four-year-old son Nathaniel and her mum Christine, 75.
The 47-year-old said: “Sometimes the tables are a bit messy, and I do avoid using the toilets, which aren’t too nice.
“But the staff are very nice and the place is always busy – so they must be doing something right.”
PIZZA PAIN
Jayan Patel, who was visiting the city from Bilston, in the West Midlands, was extremely disappointed with his long-awaited slice of pepperoni pizza.
The 11-year-old said: “It’s awful” and pulled a disgusted face after trying a bite.
However, Debra Rutherford, 52, who had come to visit her daughter at university, was more than happy with the taste of her food.
“It tastes just the same as at other Greggs shops, but the café is not very clean.
“In fact it’s disgusting. There is mess everywhere.”
One student, Lara Greening, was “very happy” with her vegan sausage roll and claimed it was “very good value”.
And, 40-year-old Danielle Szerszon, also enjoyed tucking into her cheese and onion pasta bake while daughter Anabelle quickly demolished a slice of pepperoni pizza.
“The food is fine,” she said, “and I have always found the staff lovely. But the toilets are dirty – you have to be really desperate to use them.”
A woman called Donna, who was in charge, was shocked by the scathing Trip Advisor reviews and denied staff were rude to customers.
