CALL The Midwife star Emerald Fennell has been revealed as one of the stars of the new Barbie movie.

And as you might expect, the bubblegum-pink film is a world away from London’s gritty East End in the BBC hit.

The actress, who played Nurse Patsy Mount in Call The Midwife, is Margaret ‘Midge’ Hadley Sherwood – Barbie’s best friend.

The doll is heavily pregnant – a nod to the real-life Midge figure who was sold with a tiny magnetic baby its her tummy.

Emerald joins a star-studded cast that includes Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as her boyfriend Ken.

Other stars pop up as various version of the legendary Mattel doll, most notably Dua Lipa, who is Mermaid Barbie.

British star Emerald, 37, was in Call The Midwife from 2013 to 2017.

She initially appeared as a guest-star during the second run of the drama, before being bumped to a series regular.

Emerald bowed out in series six and went on to play Camilla Parker-Bowles in Netflix’s The Crown.

She was also the showrunner on BBC hit Killing Eve, on which she has also served as a writer.
