I’m a mom who lost 100 lbs – people treat me so differently now but that’s okay, sometimes I don’t recognize myself
AFTER losing 100 pounds, one mom’s body change was so drastic, she sometimes doesn’t recognize herself.
But by recommitting to her health, she’s learned valuable lessons that she’s ready to share.
Fitness influencer Molly Smith (@molsinspire) is a mom who hit her goal weight through diet and exercise.
While the process took time, Smith was thrilled with the results, even though she encountered some surprises along the way.
In a video titled “What major weight loss has taught me,” Smith got real about her journey.
Over a slideshow of photos that documented her weight loss progress, Smith’s voiceover gave guidance to viewers with similar goals.
“The world is going to treat you very differently,” she said, recalling the time before she learned that lesson from experience.
“You’re going to outgrow a lot of people and a lot of things,” Smith continued. “It’s okay.”
The number on the scale may change much faster than your mindset, Smith said.
“It’s going to take longer for your mind to heal than your body,” she advised.
“You’ll feel like an impostor some days, like you almost don’t even recognize yourself,” she said.
Sometimes, losing weight means gaining new (and unwanted) features.
“As much as the loose skin sucks, it’s still so worth it,” Smith said, including a video of her own excess skin jiggling on her leg.
Weight loss is “never linear,” Smith reminded her followers. “Never beat yourself up for gaining a bit of weight back,” she said.
Another item for the “don’t do” list? Smith said, “Never do anything that can compromise your relationship with food.”
For weight loss or for happiness at any size, Smith had a few general suggestions.
She told followers to find exercises and nourishing foods they loved, to prioritize their hormone health, and forgive people who hurt them.
Then, she gave two well-spoken mantras that she’s taken to heart.
“It’s easier to love yourself to healthy than hate yourself to skinny,” she reminded viewers.
And even though dramatic weight loss can be a huge accomplishment, it’s not the most crucial thing.
“Above all else, please remember there are so much more important things in life than losing weight and being skinny,” Smith concluded.
She ended her montage with clips of her engagement to her fiance and footage of her young son, the two lights of her life.
