Journalist hints PL striker could be a long-term replacement for Harry Kane
Journalist Pete O’Rourke has hinted that Tottenham Hotspur could find a long-term Harry Kane replacement in Brighton and Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson.
Ferguson has been one of many bright sparks for Brighton this season, as the club continue to push for European football and cement their status as one of the most attractive, exciting teams in the Premier League.
The 18-year-old has 13 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions for the Seagulls so far this term, with three Premier League goals (Transfermarkt).
He recently scored his first international goal for the Republic of Ireland, too, bagging in the 3-2 win over Latvia in a friendly during the last round of international fixtures (Transfermarkt).
It was claimed back in February that Spurs were keen on Ferguson and those rumours have not gone away, with Manchester United and Chelsea also thought to be among those looking at the youngster (The Sun).
Football Insider suggested Brighton would offer Ferguson a new contract in an attempt to ward off interest from bigger clubs. Now, the wonderkid has been compared to Tottenham’s star man Harry Kane.
O’Rourke told GiveMeSport: “He’s playing in the Premier League at 18 as well, he’s got a big strong build like a Harry Kane.
“He plays up there on his own as a frontman for Brighton and he can carry that attacking burden as well.
“He looks like a real top prospect. I think he’s only going to get better and better with age, so if he has half as good a career as Harry Kane, I’m sure Evan Ferguson will be delighted.”

Evan Ferguson looks like the real deal and he should go on to forge a brilliant career in the Premier League (or abroad, if he so wishes).
I would love to see Spurs sign him as the future replacement for Harry Kane, and we should do all we can to secure his signature.
